A few words about Sharon

The Smile Show Team are made up of registered matrons/chaperones and theatre professionals, Who all work very hard behind the scenes to assist Sharon in producing a safe working environment and a smooth running show.

From the tender age of 3… Sharon Collins danced at a local weekly dance class under the expert guidance of Mrs Joan Bower ADA. Sharon was nurtured in a theatre school environment being lucky enough to undergo ongoing dance and drama classes until the age of 16, also under the expert guidance of Mrs Teresa Headsbeath, Miss Shirley Perry, Miss Annette Thomson and many more recognised professionals in Liverpool UK. This entailed everything from numerous festival wins in both dance and drama, regular pantomimes and shows and passing all examinations from primary to start of majors in ADA tap ,ISTD modern and RAD ballet. Liverpools royal court, Empire and Neptune theatres as well as the floral pavilion New Brighton were some of the local Theatres Sharon played many junior roles loving every minute!

At the age of 16… Sharon then went on to Merseyside dance and drama centre under the expert supervision of Miss Gaynor Owen of the ISTD, here Sharon was taught by many more outstanding professionals. Sharon gained teaching qualifications with the ISTD, is an associate with Lamda and a licentiate with the guildhall, later also becoming an associate with the IDTA. At the time of gaining her licentiate with guild hall she was known as the first in the north west to pass in 3 years, this was under the expert coaching and direction of Miss Sherril parsons of YULA casting. Sharon taught at this point in numerous Schools and community projects and was a sought after young teacher and performer destined for a promising career. Sharon then gained employment in the USA , teaching Children from age 6 to 16 years producing small shows and enjoying every minute!

From the age of 21… Returning to England Sharon went on to achieve great things, becoming well known as creator of Sharon Collins school of dance and drama, theatre works, dance fusion and founder and partner of Venus productions. Working within Knowsley social services adult learning disability service for over 19 years. With over 34 years’ experience of working within the theatre and performing arts industry. Sharon now as well as producing local dance shows and dance competitions produces global performance trips for dance schools and performing arts schools, to places like New York Broadway, Las Vegas Nevada, Salou Spain and Benidorm Altea palace Spain, with up and coming world events in Beijing and Shanghai, all of which Sharon is extremely proud!
